Albany Medical Center serves more than three million people in 25-counties of Eastern New York and Western New England. As a teaching hospital and medical college with biomedical research facilities, our mission is to care for patients of all ages with a broad range of health conditions.
Albany Medical Center is the only teaching hospital linked to a medical school in New York’s Capital Region – and the hospital of choice for over 30,000 admitted patients each year. Patients rely on us for unique programs including a state designated Level-I Trauma Center and the region’s most sophisticated Emergency Department. In fact, according to New York State 2006 (DOH SPARCS) data, Albany Med reported the highest discharge rate for trauma cases in the entire state (706 cases).
Other key Albany Med programs and services include the only regional heart, kidney and pancreas transplantation program; an off-site ambulatory surgery center; a Children’s Hospital with a level-4 NICU and modern Breast Care Center.
