Chief Residents

Diana Cardon-Grau, MD and Igor Sorokin, MD

As Chief Residents, we would like to welcome you to our program. Our program continues to grow as we have added two new faculty this year and a total of four faculty in the last five years. Our training covers a breadth of urological training including oncology, pediatrics, endourology, female urology, reconstruction, andrology, infertility and robotic surgery.
Our program consists of one year of General Surgery and four years of Urology. Each resident spends two and half years on the adult service at Albany Medical Center along with six months on the pediatric rotation and a year at the VA Hospital. During the first year of urology, residents are involved in six months of basic science research during their time at the VA. This research is often presented at national conferences and results in a peer-reviewed publication.
We recently received five-year accreditation from the Residency Review Committee.  Over the past 5 years, our graduates have had a 100% passing rate on the American Board of Urology qualifying exam. Approximately 50% of the graduating Chief Residents pursue a fellowship.

Please feel free to contact us or any other of the residents if you have any further questions about our training program.
