Lauren Whipple, MD
Albany Medical College

A passion for painting and figure drawing inspired me towards a career in plastic surgery. Growing up right outside of Albany, in beautiful upstate NY, I spent a lot of time skiing and hiking. I have enjoyed all aspects of plastic surgery, particularly breast reconstruction and hand surgery. Training in my hometown, continuing to learn from great mentors and the excellent operative experience are some of the reasons I chose to stay at Albany Medical Center.

I grew up in Long Island, NY where I eventually completed my medical school. The aspects of plastic surgery which first drew me into this field are primarily microsurgery and breast reconstruction. In my spare time, I enjoy running, drawing, reading a good book, and catching up with friends and family.

I subsequently completed my surgical internship at Hopkins and transferred to Albany Medical College to pursue a career in Plastic Surgery. I enjoy long distance running, playing soccer, and reading in my free time. I like the versatility of plastic surgery, and will pursue a career in microsurgery and aesthetic surgery in the future.

I am originally from Houston, TX. During my senior year at the University of Texas at Austin, I visited Guatemala with HELPS International. This was my first exposure to plastic surgery and I was instantly hooked. Since then, I have particularly enjoyed complex facial reconstruction, breast reconstruction and hand surgery. I plan on seeking additional training in aesthetic surgery before returning to Texas where I will join a small practice.
