Hamish A. Kerr MBChB, MSc

Message from the Program Director

 Welcome,

The Combined Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program at Albany Medical Center was established in 1980 and is one of the oldest in the country. Our thriving suburban primary care practice, run by eight Med-Ped faculty, is unique among the country's combined residency programs and serves as the training ground for the residents' continuity clinic.

Our Residency Program offers a rich variety of educational and professional experiences, environments, and opportunities. Our graduates are afforded opportunities in primary care as well as subspecialty training if so desired. The four year continuous combined training leads to Board certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics.

The Albany Medical College, established in 1839 is one of the oldest Medical Schools in the country and adds to the rich academic environment. Our residents work on community projects with the Med-Ped Student Club and serve as mentors and teachers for students interested in the fields of Pediatrics and/or Internal Medicine.

The Albany Medical Center Hospital, a 650-bed facility, is the major referral center for the 25 counties of southern Vermont, western Massachusetts, and eastern New York, serving communities from the Canadian border to the suburbs of New York City. As a result, Med-Ped residents have an enormously varied and interesting set of clinical experiences. In the Medical Center's inpatient units and outpatient subspecialty clinics, residents encounter children and adults with both common and rare diseases.
