Welcome to Albany Medical College’s Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency program website.
The journey to picking the right residency program can seem daunting and overwhelming. It was not that long ago that we walked in your shoes. It is not just about the destination, but the journey is important. Enjoy this time and know that a career in Med/Peds is full of great opportunities and incredible people!!! During your application process try to focus on finding a program that is “the right fit for you.” Let us tell you why our program is the perfect place for you! Residency is one of the most exciting and stressful times in your career. One can never underestimate the value of having a strong supportive environment in order to achieve greatness. Our program emphasizes a work-life balance and aims to provide you with excellent clinical training along with a supportive network of co-residents and Med-Peds faculty.
We receive excellent training in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Our program provides the flexibility to tailor your schedule to help meet your career goals; whether that is in primary care, hospitalist medicine or sub-specialty training. We take special pride in our continuity clinic, which most residents will agree is one of their favorite parts of residency. It is the place we call “home.” All of our attending physicians are Medicine/Pediatrics trained and provide excellent one-on-one mentorship during your time in residency.
You will not only be exposed to a wide array of pathology during your residency but your learning will be augmented by other experiences that help you grow as a physician. Our residents are actively involved in a variety of projects including local health fairs, advocacy projects, QI projects and research.
As a group we come from many different backgrounds and have many different interests, but we all share a love for Med/Peds. We come together as a Med/Peds family and our ties are strong. We plan all different types of events regularly and go out as a group as often as we can. There’s no shortage of things to do in the Capital District-- some of our favorites include going out to great restaurants, hiking, skiing, trips to Saratoga to watch the horse races, or attending a comedy show at Proctor’s theatre. And if you feel like you just need a change of scenery, several major cities including Boston, New York City and Montreal are just a short drive away.
We are excited to be serving as Chief Residents for next year. On behalf of our program, we thank you for taking interest in Albany and look forward to meeting you on the interview trail!
