Welcome to Albany Medical College’s Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency program website.
The journey to picking the right residency program can seem daunting and overwhelming at first , but enjoy this time and know that a career in Med/Peds is full of great opportunities and great people.
Our program prides itself in keeping a strong tradition of excellence in the Albany community, and at the same time playing an integral part in our Medicine and Pediatric parent programs. We receive excellent training in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Our program provides the flexibility to tailor your schedule to help meet your career goals; whether that is in primary care, hospitalist medicine or sub-specialty training. There are also several projects that our residents are actively involved in including participation in local health fairs, advocacy projects, serving as mentors for the Medicine/Pediatrics student interest group, QI projects, research, and International Trips to places such as South America, the Caribbean, and Africa, just to name a few.
We take special pride in our continuity clinic, which most residents will agree is one of their favorite parts of residency. All of our attendings are Medicine/Pediatrics trained, and provide excellent one-on-one mentorship during your time in clinic. We also are lucky to have a strong, supportive clinical staff who are always available to help.
As a group we come from many different backgrounds and have many different interests, but we all share the desire to work in an amazing environment and provide excellent patient care. We like to get out together as a group as often as we can. Albany offers a wide array of activities no matter what you’re into. Some of our favorites include going out to the great restaurants and bars in the Capital District. We go hiking, skiing and play all kinds of sports – including an annual tennis tournament. We have taken group trips to Saratoga to watch the horse races as well as catch a great concert at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Even closer to Albany is Proctor’s theatre where we can catch a Broadway show. Whether its shopping at the local outlet malls or checking out one of the many local sports teams in action, there are tons of fun, interesting, and exciting things to do. Albany is also in close proximity to several major cities including, Boston, New York City and Montreal, making it easy to get away for the weekend.
We are excited to be serving as Chief Residents for next year. On behalf of our program, we thank you for taking interest in Albany and look forward to meeting you on the interview trail!
