Why Albany Med?
The reasons are as diverse and wide-ranging as our body of residents/fellows. Each has a particular reason for choosing this exceptional institution and below are a selection of testimonials from some of our previous residents/fellows.
Brian Valerian, M.D.
The training I received at Albany Medical Center was thorough and extensive. The full breadth of surgery was encountered from "lumps and bumps" to complex hepatobiliary, advanced laparoscopy, and complex reoperative surgery. The attending surgeons have a genuine interest in teaching/training residents to become surgeons. I was fortunate to have many superb mentors who inspired me and helped shape me into a young, competent surgeon. This vast experience prepared me for Colon and Rectal Fellowship training at Cleveland Clinic Florida.
Stephen Duffy, M.D.
I feel the opportunities my colleagues and I have had in our careers stem from our experience at Albany Medical Center. The surgical training program provides an extensive exposure to both common and rare surgical problems. In addition, all surgical subspecialties are present in the institution, providing interaction with all disciplines of surgery. This breadth of training has allowed fellow graduates to successfully enter competitive fellowships or begin careers in the general surgical field.
