It is my sincere pleasure to introduce you to the Graduate Medical Education programs at Albany Medical Center. As residents and fellows play such significant roles in the Medical Center's three-pronged mission of quality patient care, biomedical research and medical education, we are proud to offer training programs that graduate physicians in over thirty ACGME-accredited programs.
The Albany Medical College educates medical students, masters and doctoral students, and nurse anesthetists. Faculty members participate in research that is supported by a number of prestigious grants from the National Institute of Health and other organizations. As a member of our medical education community, you, as a resident, will have opportunities to interact with approximately 400 residents and fellows, 550 medical students, over 250 full-time attending physicians and 400 other area physicians. You will be an integral part of the healthcare team that provides superior patient care to our diverse patient body. You will have representation on the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff, the Graduate Medical Education Council, and the Chief Resident Council and other key Committees in the Hospital and College.
As one of the nation's most advanced Emergency Care Centers, Albany Medical Center boasts a state-of-the-art regional trauma center and Children’s Hospital. Other major initiatives at the Medical Center include the heart, kidney and pancreas transplant programs. Each year our institution awards the Albany Medical Center Prize in Medicine and Biomedical Research, America’s top prize in medicine.
