Center for Cardiovascular Sciences - Research

Faculty laboratories provide diverse opportunities for performing research designed  to elucidate the mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases such as:

  • Vascular disease and atherosclerosis
  • Hypertension
  • Endothelial cell function and dysfunction
  • Cardiac failure and myopathies

TF

Integrative research spans all aspects of experimental design ranging from animal models of cardiovascular disease to cellular and molecular mechanisms.

Faculty expertise includes:

  • Smooth muscle cell biology and signal transduction mechanisms(Ginnan, Singer, Tang, Wang)
  • Endothelial biology and signal transduction mechanisms (Trebak, Vincent)
  • Cardiac cell biology and signal transduction mechanisms (Keller)
  • Regulation and assessment of membrane potential and calcium dynamics  (Trebak, Wang)
  • Biology and chemistry of reactive oxygen and nitrogen free radicals (Jourd'heuil)
  • Cardiovascular developmental biology (Schwarz)
  • Cardiovascular imaging morphological and non-invasive (Barroso, Keller)
  • Biologically Active Peptides and Peptidomimetics (Andersen)
