Center for Cardiovascular Sciences - Research
Faculty laboratories provide diverse opportunities for performing research designed to elucidate the mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases such as:
- Vascular disease and atherosclerosis
- Hypertension
- Endothelial cell function and dysfunction
- Cardiac failure and myopathies

Integrative research spans all aspects of experimental design ranging from animal models of cardiovascular disease to cellular and molecular mechanisms.
Faculty expertise includes:
- Smooth muscle cell biology and signal transduction mechanisms(Ginnan, Singer, Tang, Wang)
- Endothelial biology and signal transduction mechanisms (Trebak, Vincent)
- Cardiac cell biology and signal transduction mechanisms (Keller)
- Regulation and assessment of membrane potential and calcium dynamics (Trebak, Wang)
- Biology and chemistry of reactive oxygen and nitrogen free radicals (Jourd'heuil)
- Cardiovascular developmental biology (Schwarz)
- Cardiovascular imaging morphological and non-invasive (Barroso)
