Graduate Program
The Center for Cardiovascular Sciences offers programs leading to the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and Masters of Science (M.S.) degrees. The training goals of the CCS curriculum are:
- Learn state of the art technical research skills ranging from molecular techniques to in vivo animal models of cardiovascular disease
- Gain familiarity with the literature and current research findings in the area of cardiovascular physiology and pathophysiology
- Learn experimental design and data analysis
- Develop effective oral, written, and graphic communication skills through presentations in the center and at national meetings
- Provide students opportunities to practice teaching skills in the area of physiology
- Position students for success in postdoctoral postions or independent research in academic or industrial biomedical settings

STUDENT FINANCIAL SUPPORT
- Doctoral students receive $23,000/year stipend plus a tuition waiver. Funding for this stipend comes from a number of sources. Doctoral students also receive health insurance
- Master's students receive a tuition waiver
DOCTORAL CURRICULUM
- Didactic courses are completed in two years
- Average time to degree 5-6 years
MASTER'S CURRICULUM
- Didactic courses are completed in 1.5 years
