Evaluation and Diagnosis
The causes of infertility are many - from age to recurrent miscarriages, and numerous more complex medical issues in between. So the sooner a diagnosis can be pinpointed, the more quickly the problem can be resolved. While an infertility workup generally includes semen analysis, post-coital test, hormonal studies, endometrial biopsy, hysterosalpingogram (HSG), ultrasound, and laparoscopy, the workup will be tailored to the needs of the individual couple
Treatment Options
An array of effective treatment options can help overcome infertility. The approach that our physicians recommend will depend on your age, diagnosis, the duration of infertility, any previous treatments, and your personal preferences:
- Medical Therapy to stimulate or support ovulation:
- Clomiphene citrate (Clomid) - pills
- Gonadotropins - injections
- Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), in which sperm is washed and then injected into the uterus through the cervix
- Minimally Invasive Reproductive Surgery to treat endometriosis and other conditions (Hysteroscopy and Laparoscopy)
- Major surgery to treat malformations or damage to the uterus, tubes or ovaries
