Healing Arts Welcome

Diane Stredny and Jenn Kilinski educate guests on the Healing Arts Program at an Albany Med event.

The Healing Arts Program at Albany Medical Center was developed from a grassroots approach that integrates evidence-based medicine with scientific and artistic views.  The Medical Center created the program in response to patient-driven demand for complementary and alternative modalities in the general medical setting.  The emphasis of the program is on creating a healing environment to assist patients in their healing process and with their healthcare needs.

The Healing Arts Program offers a variety of services to patients and staff.  The most common form of treatment for patients are energy-based therapies, which include Healing Touch, Reiki, and Therapeutic Touch.  Healing Touch is utilized at the bedside throughout the hospital and administered to staff in an employee healing touch clinic.  Healing Arts is also offered to patients of the Children's Hospital in forms of complementary and alternative therapies, which include Healing Touch, Reiki, Clinical aroma therapy as well as Massage and accupuncture (Fees for Service), Music and Expressive Arts Therapy.
