Kathryn Godley, MS, RN, CDE, BC-ADM

Ms. Godley received her BS in Nursing from the University of Michigan and her MS in Health Education from Russell Sage College. She is a Certified Diabetes Educator and Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management. 

 

She began working in diabetes in 1976, as a teaching nurse at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston. She went on to become a renal diabetes nurse specialist at Joslin and then diabetes nurse coordinator at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, NH.  She was Consultant Nurse and then Director of the NYS Department of Health's Diabetes Control Program for many years.  She has been at Albany Medical Center since 1999.

 

Ms. Godley has been an active volunteer with the American Association of Diabetes Educators, serving on their national Board of Directors and chairing several committees.  She has also been active with the American Diabetes Association, nationally and locally.  She has written and edited many brochures, articles, and books for diabetes educators and for people who have diabetes.  Since 1999, she has co-led a monthly support group for prisoners who have diabetes at the Great Meadow Correctional Facility in Comstock, NY. 

 

In addition to working with the Division of Endocrinology & Metabolism team, Ms. Godley also provides diabetes self-management counseling for patients of  AMC's Internal Medicine Group at Pinnacle Place in Albany and Internal Medicine and Pediatrics in Latham.

 

Special interests include quality improvement and working with patients who have hypoglycemia unawareness.  She is married and has two children.
