A BRIEF HISTORY OF AMC SOUTH
Albany Medical Center South Clinical Campus, formerly The Child's Hospital, has been providing quality health care to this region for nearly 125 years. Founded in the winter of 1874-75 by the Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus of the Albany Episcopal Diocese, the original Child's Hospital was, in fact, a small shelter for sick children. Over the years, Child's adapted to meet the needs of the times, always continuing its tradition of compassionate care.
In June 1999, The Child's Hospital was purchased by Albany Medical Center, to better serve the surgical needs of the community. In joining with Albany Medical Center, Child's (now, Albany Medical Center South Clinical Campus) continues its ongoing tradition of the highest possible quality of patient care.
