Minimally Invasive Surgery

At Albany Medical Center, our surgeons are at the forefront of minimally invasive techniques. More often than not, they will recommend minimally invasive or laparoscopic surgery for patients. In minimally invasive procedures, one or more tiny incisions are made to insert a tube. The tube or tubes allow the surgeons to slip in tiny video cameras and specially designed surgical instruments to perform the procedure.

Minimally invasive surgery or laparoscopic procedures provide patients the benefit of smaller incisions, less pain, fewer heart, lung and wound complications and shortened hospital stay.
