Programs & Services
The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery maintains an active clinical practice involving diseases of the lung, esophagus and mediastinum.
The adult cardiac surgery service provides care for the entire spectrum of acquired cardiac disease including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repair and replacement, thoracic aortic disease, and arrhythmia surgery.
In addition, an integral part of the division is the Congenital Cardiac Surgery Program, the only one of its kind in the region. The program provides care to adults with congenital heart disease including hypoplastic left heart, single ventricle physiology and ECMO among others.
Additionally, Albany Med provides these same services to children through the Pediatric Congenital Heart Program. In this program, our cardiothoracic surgeons work together with pediatric cardiologists as well as our interdisciplinary pediatric care team that includes:
- Pediatric intensivists
- Pediatric anesthesiologists
- Pediatric hospitalists
- Nurses
- Perfusionists
- Child life specialists
- Pediatric radiologists
- Pediatric respiratory therapists
