Ralph Liporace, M.D.

Dr. Liporace received his medical education at Albany Medical College and did his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Albany Medical Center Hospital. He was elected to the Medical Honor Society, Alpha Omega Alpha, and later served as Chief Medical Resident.

After finishing his residency in Internal Medicine he joined the faculty at AMC as Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of HIV Medicine. In 1995, he left Albany and went into private practice in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. While there, his practice was exclusively HIV medicine and he cared for over 450 HIV positive patients.

In 2004, he rejoined the AMC faculty as Director of the Clinical Research Program in the Division of HIV Medicine. In addition to clinical research, Dr. Liporace specializes in patients with multi-drug resistant HIV, expanded testing for HIV, and early diagnosis of HIV infection. Throughout his career he has participated in HIV clinical research, enrolling patients in studies which led to the approval of almost every HIV medicine now approved by the FDA.

He is a member of the American Academy of HIV Medicine, the HIV Medicine Association, and is a credential specialist in HIV Medicine.
