Cardiac Rehabilitation

Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Conditions & Treatments

Outpatient cardiac rehab at Albany Med is a comprehensive program designed to help patients who have been diagnosed with heart and blood vessel diseases.

Some of the common cardiac conditions we help to treat include:

  • Angina (heart pain)
  • Heart attack
  • Heart failure
  • Myocardiac infarction

We also see patients who have undergone a cardiac procedure such as:

  • Coronary artery bypass grafting
  • Coronary artery stenting
  • Heart stent replacement (PCI/PTCA)
  • Heart transplant
  • Post hypothermic cooling procedures
  • Valve replacements

The cardiac rehabilitation program is an exercise program with continuous cardiac monitoring (ECG or telemetry monitoring and blood pressure). Patients use the treadmill, recumbent bike, recumbent stepper and arm ergometer to increase strength and endurance. We also include patient education for secondary prevention of coronary artery disease and provide support to assist with successful recovery and return to a normal lifestyle.
