'Light Up the Night' Raises $130,000 for the Dept. of Emergency Medicine
ALBANY, N.Y., August 13, 2007 Albany Medical Center's second annual 'Light up the Night' benefit on July 27 raised more than $130,000 for Albany Med's department of emergency medicine. Proceeds from the event will be used to fund educational opportunities, research initiatives and equipment purchases that will further strengthen the department of emergency medicine.
"Thanks to the generosity of our community supporters, the faculty at Albany Medical Center can pursue some of the latest advances in emergency medicine and keep up with cutting-edge research, training and medical equipment," said Mara McErlean, M.D., chair of emergency medicine at Albany Med. "We are extremely grateful for this opportunity to keep our staff at the forefront of emergency medicine."
Held at Sargo's at the Saratoga National Golf Club, the event featured food by Sargo's award-winning chefs, a champagne station, live music by popular area band The Refrigerators and a fireworks display by Alonzo Fireworks.
MVP Health Care was the title sponsor of the event at a $20,000 support level.
As the region's only state-designated Level 1 trauma center, Albany Med's emergency department is a critical community resource. Approximately 65,000 individuals are brought to Albany Med's ED for care each year.
