More deaths are caused by heart failure than all forms of cancer combined. Heart failure is a progressive weakening of the heart muscle that disables the heart's ability to pump blood through the body. Some symptoms of heart failure include shortness of breath, swollen or tender abdomen, swelling in the feet and legs, and excessive fatigue. With early diagnosis and new treatments, many people with heart failure can still enjoy their everyday activities.
