Two Specialists Join Children's Hospital Staff
Albany, N.Y., March 14, 2006 --Scott A. Schroeder, M.D., a pediatric pulmonologist, and Andre Prochoroff M.D., a pediatric neurologist, recently joined the staff of the Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center.
Dr. Schroeder, who was named professor of pediatrics at Albany Medical College, comes to the Medical Center from Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola where he was an attending pediatrician. Dr. Schroeder received his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts in Worcester and a Masters of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He completed fellowships in pediatric pulmonary medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and Shriner's Burn Institute in Boston. Dr. Schroeder treats patients with pediatric respiratory disorders such as asthma, cystic fibrosis and childhood pneumonia.
Dr. Prochoroff, who was named assistant professor of neurology at Albany Medical College, recently completed a fellowship in pediatric neurology at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. He received his medical degree from the Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg, Germany and completed a pediatric residency at Morristown Memorial and Overlook Hospitals in New Jersey. Dr. Prochoroff treats children with neurological problems such as celebral palsy, metabolic disorders, and epilepsy. He also has a special interest in the cause and treatment of adolescent headaches.
The Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center is a 125-bed facility devoted exclusively to the medical needs of infants, children, and adolescents and is the referral center for all seriously ill and injured children from 25 counties in upstate New York and western New England. It is staffed by 90 physicians in 34 subspecialties and more than 300 pediatric nurses, therapists, social workers and child-life specialists. The Children's Hospital serves over 60,000 children each year.
