Albany Medical Center Board of Directors Appoints Officers

ALBANY, N.Y., September 21, 2007-The Board of Directors of Albany Medical Center recently named Nancy E. Carey Cassidy chair-elect and approved the appointments of three other vice-chairs-Robert T. Cushing, Peter H. Elitzer and R. Wayne Diesel, according to an announcement by John B. Robinson, Jr., chairman of the Board.

 

Carey Cassidy, executive vice president and chief operating officer for the Picotte Companies, is a long-time Board member who currently serves as vice-chair of the executive committee. She also serves on the committee on compensation, the committee on governance and the ad hoc committees for strategic planning and master space planning. In addition to her Board appointments, Carey Cassidy has championed various philanthropic activities at the Albany Medical Center including founding the annual Dancing in the Woods holiday fundraising event and providing active leadership in the annual Children's Miracle Network Telethon on behalf of the Children's Hospital at Albany Med. She received the Children's Miracle Network Honoree distinction in 1996 and the Albany Medical Center Volunteer of the Year Award in 1998. She also serves as chair of the board of the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce, as well as serving as a member of the M&T Bank Directors Advisory Council.

 

Cushing, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Trustco Bank Corp NY and Trustco Bank, serves as chair of the committee on finance and as vice-chair of the committee on compensation, and on the executive committee, the governance committee and the ad hoc committees for strategic planning and for master space planning. He also serves as chairman of the Siena College Board of Trustees and as treasurer of the Schenectady Foundation.

 

Diesel formerly served as vice chancellor for Business and Industry Relations at the State University of New York, president and CEO of the New York State Credit Union League, president and CEO of Mechanical Technology Incorporated, administrative vice president of KeyCorp., and director of the budget for New York State. On the Albany Medical Center Board, he serves as chair of the committee on hospital affairs and also is a member of the executive committee and the ad hoc committee for strategic planning.

 

Elitzer is president and founder of Peter Harris Clothes and Label Shopper, which have a total of 30 stores in New York and New England. He serves as chair of the committee on college affairs and as chair of the committee on compensation, and is a member of the following committees: executive, governance, and the ad hoc committees for strategic planning and master space planning. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the University at Albany's Center for Jewish Studies.
