Albany Medical Center to Host Free Patient Empowerment Seminar
ALBANY, N.Y., September 11, 2007 - Albany Medical Center will host a free educational seminar on patient empowerment at 6 p.m. Tuesday, September 18 at the Hilton Garden Inn at Albany Medical Center. The seminar will discuss how to become a strong self-advocate in respect to personal health care by teaching participants how to understand medical conditions, ask questions, and evaluate options for treatments.
Henry Pohl, M.D., vice dean for academic administration at Albany Medical College, has instructed courses on patient communications for more than 20 years, and will host the seminar. Among other topics, he will address whether the Internet is a good or bad source of medical information, what a health advocate is, and the importance of family health history.
