OB/GYN with Expertise in Bioethics Joins Albany Medical College
ALBANY, N.Y., December 6, 2011—Paul Burcher, M.D., Ph.D., has joined Obstetrics and Gynecology at Albany Medical Center and has been appointed assistant professor in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Albany Medical College. In addition, he will serve as assistant professor at the Alden March Bioethics Institute at Albany Medical College.
Dr. Burcher comes from Oregon Health Sciences University, where he served as clinical associate professor and clerkship director. He also was an obstetrician and gynecologist at Peace Health Medical Group in Oregon. He completed a residency in OB/GYN at the University of Rochester in N.Y., and received his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine. He is a fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Burcher recently received a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Oregon, where he also received a master of arts in philosophy. As an ethicist, he has a particular interest in the doctor/patient relationship and physician empathy.
