Albany Med Named National Consumer Choice Award Winner
ALBANY, N.Y., October 3, 2008 -- Albany Medical Center is the only hospital in northeastern New York to be honored with a Consumer Choice Award based on a recent survey of consumers conducted by the National Research Corporation (NRC). This is the 11th consecutive year that Albany Medical Center has received this distinction.
The survey identified hospitals which healthcare consumers said had the highest quality and image in 250 markets throughout the United States, according to Ginny Martin, president of NRC’s Healthcare Market Guide Division. A list of award winners appears in Modern Healthcare magazine.
In its annually conducted NRC Healthcare Market Guide study, billed by the organization as the nation's most comprehensive consumer assessment study of the healthcare industry, the NRC surveyed more than 200,000 households representing 400,000 consumers in the contiguous 48 states and the District of Columbia. Winners were determined by consumer perceptions on multiply quality and image ratings collected. Of the 3,200 hospitals named by consumers in the study, the winning facilities ranked highest in their Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA) as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau.
