Adult Endocrinologist Vibhavasu Sharma Joins StaffALBANY, N.Y., August 30, 2012— Vibhavasu Sharma, M.D., a specialist in adult endocrinology, has joined Albany Medical Center and has been appointed assistant professor of endocrinology at Albany Medical College.
Dr. Sharma treats patients 18 years of age and older for a range of endocrine-related conditions including Type I and Type II diabetes; diseases of the thyroid, pituitary and adrenal glands; osteoporosis; gestational diabetes; and polycystic ovarian syndrome.
He most recently served as a clinical endocrinologist with Southcoast Physicians Network in New Bedford, MA. Previous to that he was an endocrinologist at Southview Hospital and Specialty Medicine Care, a Joslin Diabetes Center affiliate, in Dayton, Ohio.
Dr. Sharma was fellowship trained in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA, and in geriatric medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He completed a residency and served as chief medical resident, internal medicine, at Easton Hospital, Easton, PA.
Board certified in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism, as well as geriatric medicine and internal medicine, Dr. Sharma is certified to perform thyroid fine needle aspiration biopsy and thyroid ultrasonography by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. In addition he is certified in radioactive iodine administration for hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer by the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. He earned his medical degree from the University of Delhi, Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India.
