Oneida County Resident Featured in Albany Med Advertising Campaign

ALBANY, N.Y., July 30, 2012óDr. Ernest Gosline, of Clinton, NY, is appearing in Albany Medical Center’s current multimedia advertising campaign promoting its heart care services.

Gosline, 87, was among Albany Med’s first patients to undergo a new procedure that allows for valve repair without open-heart surgery.

Gosline suffered from aortic stenosis, an abnormal narrowing of the heart’s aortic valve that drained his energy.  He was treated with a transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), a minimally invasive procedure in which surgeons place an artificial valve into the heart using a catheter inserted through a very small incision in the leg or chest.

Gosline, a retired psychoanalyst who founded the community mental health programs in Oneida, Madison and Lewis Counties, was in private practice in Oneida County from 1959 to March of this year. He also served three terms as president of the American Society of Psychoanalytic Physicians.

Following the surgery, Gosline, a lifelong amateur musician, is back to playing violin and says he was so pleased with his care that he agreed to appear in the Albany Med advertising campaign.
