Dr. Kevin Kiley, Chair of OB/GYN Recognized by ACOG
ALBANY, N.Y., May 13, 2008—Kevin C. Kiley, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., associate professor and chairman of the department of obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) at Albany Medical Center, was presented the distinguished service award by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG). The award was presented at the 56th annual clinical meeting of the ACOG held recently in New Orleans.
The distinguished service award is given to an outstanding individual in obstetrics and gynecology who has made important contributions within ACOG, government, research, teaching, or in direct patient care.
As chair of OB/GYN at Albany Med, Dr. Kiley oversees the clinical, educational and research mission of the department of OB/GYN, and directs the Women’s Wellness Center of Albany Med in Latham.
Dr. Kiley, who joined Albany Med earlier this year, is a former surgeon general of the United States Army and commander of the U.S. Army Medical Command. As such, Dr. Kiley had operational responsibility for Army medical treatment facilities all over the world.
A graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine, Dr. Kiley completed a surgical internship and OB/GYN residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX. He served as chief of OB/GYN services at the 121st Evacuation Hospital in Seoul, South Korea. He returned to Beaumont as chief of family planning and counseling, and later as chairman of the department of OB/GYN.
Dr. Kiley is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
