Neonatologist Dr. Kate Tauber Joins Staff

ALBANY, N.Y.,  March 4, 2013 Neonatologist Kate A. Tauber, M.D., has joined the Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center and has been appointed assistant professor of pediatrics at Albany Medical College.

Fellowship-trained in neonatology at Albany Medical Center, Dr. Tauber also received her medical degree from Albany Medical College in 2006. She did her pediatric residency at the University of Michigan’s C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and has a particular interest in pediatric cardiology and nutrition.

During her fellowship at Albany Med, she began a still ongoing observational study on B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) as a marker for patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), a heart condition in pre-term infants. She will share her preliminary findings on that research during a platform talk at the prestigious Pediatric Academic Society’s annual meeting, May 4-7, in Washington, D.C.

Prior to medical school, Dr. Tauber did four years of laboratory research work at Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital where she was a research technician and laboratory manager.

Supplementing her academic and research work, Dr. Tauber also spent time in South Africa, Nicaragua and Chile providing health care and studying the operations of medical systems in areas that are less advanced.

Dr. Tauber lives with her family in Albany.
