A team of four Albany Med security personnel who served as instructors for the Medical Center’s Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) training program were named Security Officers of the Year.
The officers were among those honored for excellent service at the annual celebration of Security Services held at Choices Café.
The award has been given out since 1995. In 2001, it was named “Sergeant Stephen A. Wagenbaugh Memorial Award” in memory of Sgt. Wagenbaugh, a longtime officer and one-time Albany Med Employee of the Year who died of cancer.
“Our security officers provide not just tremendous protection for the Albany Med community but tremendous support to so many people in so many ways that are above and beyond the job description,” said John Herritage, director of Security Services. “They are an exceptional team, and I’m proud to serve with each and every one of them.”
