Our Mission
Is to educate and enrich the lives of students by encouraging them to become involved in philanthropy at an early age.  By planning and implementing creative fundraising activities, Students Care for Kids participants can directly enhance the lives of our region’s youngest patients.

SUNY Albany
SUNY Albany Women's Lacrosse Team In honor of two young girls undergoing cancer treatment, one here at Albany Med, the SUNY Albany Women’s Lacrosse team hosted a lacrosse tournament on October 8th for area high schools. These dedicated student-athletes raised over $3,000 for the Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders through the fees collected from competing teams.  Way to go Danes!

North Albany Academy
Last year, students from North Albany Academy raised over $400 for the Children’s Hospital.  Each grade participated in some form of philanthropy including a Walk-a-Thon, $1 Heart Icon sales, and in-school coin collection canisters.  During their Summer Health Awareness Assembly, students presented their check as well as “boo boo” bunnies, craft kits and get well cards that were hand-made for patients at the Children’s Hospital. What is Students Care for Kids?
The Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center specializes in the treatment of children from birth to age 18. More than 100,000 children are treated at the Children’s Hospital each year.  These children are cared for by over 110 physicians and 300 nurses, trained in 34 sub-specialties.

NICU PatientThe comprehensive programs of the Children’s Hospital include care for the tiniest of newborns in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, critically injured teenagers brought to us by helicopter, children suffering from childhood cancer and blood disorders and healthy children simply in need of annual check-ups.  No matter what the condition, the Children’s Hospital at Albany Med is dedicated to providing the best care for infants, children, and adolescents.

In addition to the excellent care provided by physicians and nursing staff, child life specialists, social workers, and other highly trained and committed individuals offer play and educational counseling in areas designed to facilitate learning.

Almost everyone in the 25 counties of northeastern New York and western New England has either received care at the Children’s Hospital or knows someone who has.  As a result, many community members have asked how they can also help the children in our care.

The Students Care for Kids program was developed to offer our community’s youngest members the opportunity to help other children who are sick or injured.  While supporting the work of the medical staff, Students Care for Kids also brings hope and a smile to the pediatric patients at the Children’s Hospital. Through the program, students are introduced to philanthropy and the many rewards that come from helping others, helping students who participate to gain a better understanding of what it means to give back to their community.

All this program needs to be a success is you!
