Pre-Kindergarten Program

Introduction
It is the goal of the Pre-K programs at Kidskeller to provide for the social, emotional, physical and academic development of each child. The children of our Pre-K programs will have built a solid foundation of kindergarten readiness skills over the course of the year they are enrolled. This foundation will allow children to successfully move from a Pre-K program into a more formal educational setting known as kindergarten.

Pre-K Program Objectives

  • Social
       Share and take turns with others
       Respect the rights of others
       Transition from one activity to another smoothly
       Be able to care for classroom materials and personal materials
       Develop an attention span of 10-15 minutes per activity
  • Emotional
       Begin to accept responsibility
       Begin to develop self control and problem solving strategies
       Develop self confidence in his/her abilities
  • Physical
    Gross motor skills
       Develop muscular coordination through rhythms, games, dances and art activities
     
    Fine motor skills
       Be able to trace
       Have scissors control
       Have correct pencil grip
       Be able to lace objects
  • Academic
       Begin to express ideas clearly and in proper sequence
       Recognize letters of the alphabet
       Develop number concepts
       Develop knowledge about and interest in the world around him/her 

Pre-K Program Academics
The following areas of academics are incorporated throughout the full year of the child's Pre-K experience at Kidskeller. These areas are introduced in a very subtle and creative manner for the children. Our Pre-K students will begin to build a foundation of kindergarten readiness skills, which will allow them to make a smooth and successful transition into kindergarten.
