INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

AMC welcomes international students and encourages them to apply for this elective program. In addition to the above requirements, international students must also submit the following:

Certification from New York State Education Department before beginning the rotation. Information regarding this process may be acquired by contacting Walter Ramos at (518) 474-3817 ext. 560 or please visit:  http://www.op.nysed.gov/medforms.htm
Letter from home school attesting to the student’s use of written and verbal English as sufficient means to communicate with medical faculty, parents and others.

FEES AND OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

AMC requires a $100, non-refundable application processing fee for domestic students and a $150 fee for international students. Please note that if all of the paperwork is not submitted with the application, it will be returned and withdrawn from consideration. Also, a student is not considered approved for his/her chosen elective until he/she receives written confirmation from the Office of Academic Affairs.

AMC only accepts students from LCME accredited schools or international students who are enrolled in institutions that are recognized and approved by the New York State Board of Medicine (http://www.op.nysed.gov/medforms.htm). While we may not always be able to accommodate students from other institutions, all applicants are given individual consideration and every effort is made to comply with each request.

Each student may only take up to eight weeks of elective time during the academic year. The desired elective dates that the visiting student selects must correspond with AMC’s elective periods, which can be found here.

Lastly, room, board and meals are the responsibility of the visiting student and are not provided by AMC.
