Facts and Affiliations

Nearly 40 percent of the physicians practicing in New York State's Capital Region either completed their residency at Albany Medical Center or graduated from Albany Medical College.

The residency program at Albany Medical Center  affiliated with several other institutions to expand the experience and education of the residents.

Albany Medical Center
Albany Medical Center is the major referral center in northeastern New York and western New England, serving over 2 million people in a 25-county area. Albany Medical Center includes the 651-bed Albany Medical Center Hospital and is the only academic health sciences center in the region. The Medical Center sponsors 30 residencies and fellowships.


Samuel S. Stratton Department of Veteran's Affairs Medical Center (VAMC)
Located across the street from Albany Medical Center, the 634-bed VAMC is a well-equipped facility that offers a wide variety of educational experiences. The faculty contracts with the VA provide consultation in gynecology for the upstate region. OB/GYN residents participate in the gynecology clinic and surgical care of patients seen in the clinic.


St. Peter's Hospital
This 450-bed community hospital is located approximately two miles from Albany Medical Center.  St. Peter's is a  teaching community hospital that helps educate medical students and residents in many disciplines.


South Clinical Campus
Nearby is a modern, well-equipped 20-bed facility that provides ambulatory surgery and surgery for short term in-patient .
