Albany Medical Center provides care in all major areas of general surgery (critical care, endocrine, gastrointestinal, oncology, pediatrics, transplant, trauma, and vascular). The faculty of the Division of General Surgery utilizes the inpatient, ambulatory surgery, and clinic facilities of Albany Medical Center, as well as its operating rooms, Emergency Department, and Surgical Intensive Care Unit to provide care for the surgical patient. The faculty of the Division maintains offices and ambulatory care facilities within the Medical Center complex, enabling ready access of residents to faculty and their clinical activities.

The Stratton Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) contains inpatient and ambulatory care facilities, as well as a critical care unit adjacent to the operating room.

St. Peter's Hospital has an active, community-based, general surgery service.

All hospitals are proximate, enabling ready attendance at all educational conferences and other activities of the Residency Program.
