Application Process

Applicants interested in the urology training program are encouraged to submit an application using the ERAS residency application system. The deadline for applications is September 30. The program is very competitive. We usually receive over 150 applications for the two available positions in each application cycle. Interviews take place in November and December of each application cycle. We recommend that you submit your NBME Board Scores, medical school transcript, and at least four letters of recommendation before the deadline, in order to be considered for an interview. The Urology Match is an early match administered by the AUA Office of Education and the match date is in January.

All applications to this program are to be submitted through ERAS. 

To apply for this program through ERAS you will be required to submit the following materials:

  • Photograph
  • Personal Statement
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • USMLE Steps I and II
  • Medical School Transcript and Diploma/Certificate
  • Dean's Letter
  • 4 Current Letters of Recommendation
  • ECFMG Certificate (if applicable)

If you are a foreign medical graduate you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must have a J-1 Visa;  we do NOT sponsor H1 visas
  • You must have a valid ECFMG Certificate
  • You must have one year of clinical experience in the United States not including externships or observerships
  • We require four (4) letters of recommendation from US physicians
  • IMPORTANT:  We cannot accept for residency any IMG with more than 12 weeks of clinical clerkship outside of the country of their medical school unless the person is a graduate from a medical school which has been approved by the NYS Education Department, (www.nysed.gov .)  This is a New York State regulation.
