Message from the Program Director

Allen Herr, M.D.
Program Director

As radiology residency program director, I would like to thank you for your interest in the training program at Albany Medical Center.

It is never an easy choice to pick a residency position. Each program has its strengths and weaknesses for which a scorecard may be required to rank the choices. The Albany Medical Center Department of Radiology offers a medium-size residency with a collegial, intellectually stimulating and friendly educational environment. You will work closely with an attending staff dedicated to mentoring you through the radiology education process. With the large catchment area provided by the Albany Medical Center, there is a broad case mix from common pathology to rare disease. As a rule, residents learn by doing which ultimately makes for a better radiologist. When it comes time to look for an attending or fellowship position, the intimate nature of this residency allows you to obtain personalized insight, guidance and recommendations from members of our attending staff.

A high percentage of the residents have chosen to go on to subspecialty training in many of the nations most competitive institutions with careers in both academic medicine and private practice. We are proud of our training program and the residents we produce. We strive to provide a foundation for success.

If I can be of any assistance in your decision making process, please feel free to contact me.  Thanks again for your interest in the radiology training program at Albany Medical Center.

Best of luck,

Allen Herr, M.D.
