Welcome to the AMC Psychiatry Residency web site. We offer an ACGME accredited 4 year training program in general psychiatry, with a total of 20 residents currently. Our overall goal is to assure that each resident develops the knowledge, skill and professional behavior necessary for the competent, empathic and independent practice of general psychiatry. We believe we achieve this goal through a combination of broad clinical experience, a comprehensive didactic program, research and scholarly opportunities, and a close relationship with dedicated faculty who are committed to supporting the professional development of every resident. The importance of the doctor-patient relationship is emphasized throughout training, and we provide extensive training and supervision in psychotherapy as the foundation for psychiatric practice.
