Our faculty comprises a wide range of backgrounds and interests with many holding dual certifications or other advanced degrees. In addition to providing hands-on, 24-hour department supervision and teaching, all faculty members share a commitment to creating an atmosphere that is conducive to the advancement of our specialty.
Faculty members also participate in regional and national professional organizations and research endeavors. Many also serve on national committees and organizations dedicated to the growth and development of the specialty.

Andrew Dubin, M.D. Dr. Andrew Dubin is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has subspecialty Boards in Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Dr. Dubin received his medical degree from Albany Medical College, and completed his residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Dubin is an expert in musculoskeletal medicine with an emphasis on electrodiagnostic medicine and the treatment of spasticity. Many of his patients are children with cerebral palsy. With 20 years of experience in treating musculoskeletal issues and disabled pediatric population, Dr. Dubin is well-trained to work with medications and treatments for spasticity and neuropathic pain. He is also expert in the use of EMG-guided nerve blocks for diagnostic and treatment purposes. Because of his advanced subspecialty training, Dr. Dubin often treats more complex conditions – including spasticity in children. He is the only physician in the region performing botulinium injections on small children. |

Ian Cole, M.D. Dr. Ian Cole is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical College in Brooklyn and completed his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein Medical College. He has a special interest in the use of electrodiagnosis and sodium hyaluronate injections for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Dr. Cole has expertise in performing Botox therapy. His research interests include brain injuries and musculoskeletal injuries.

Farag Aboelsaad, M.D. Dr. Aboelsaad received his MD degree from the University of Cairo. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Albany Medical Center and a fellowship in Pain Management at the Pacific Pain Treatment Center in San Francisco. Dr. Aboelsaad board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and by the American Board of Pain Medicine. Special interests include chronic pain management including back and neck pain, chronic headache, peripheral neuropathy and complex regional pain syndromes. |

Dr. Bates is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and spinal cord injury medicine. She received her MD degree from the University of Washington and completed residency in physical medicine & rehabilitation at Albany Medical Center. She is the Director of the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Service at the VA Medical Center.
Frank LoRe, M.D.
Assistant Professor
Dr. LoRe is Board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. He received his MD degree from Albany Medical College and completed residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from the University of Minnesota. Dr. LoRe is the Clinical Director of the PMR residency program at the VA.
