Pediatrics Residency Program

Message from the Program Director

Welcome to the AMC Pediatric Residency Program Website!

Thank you for your interest in our program.  We are excited to share information about our program and hope that you find this website helpful.  Our goal is to provide you with the best information to make an informed decision about where you would like to train in pediatrics.  Please feel free to contact us at any time if have any questions.

The Pediatric Residency Program at Albany Medical Center is a 3 year ACGME accredited program.  There are 30 categorical pediatric residents – 10 per year.  Our residents and faculty come from a multitude of backgrounds and educational experiences with varied interests which makes for a diverse, well-rounded academic environment.  Our faculty are enthusiastic educators who value the residents and are invested in their successful development.

The Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center is a children’s hospital within a medical center that serves a population of 2.8 million people.  We are the only tertiary care center for children within 25 counties covering 100-150 mile radius. The hospital-based continuity practice sees an average of 100-150 patients daily by both resident and attending physicians.  Patients come from up to 1.5 hour drive to see their primary care physician here.  Each resident has a panel of their own continuity patients.  Both the hospital and continuity practice create a unique opportunity for pediatric residency education because we see patients with diverse pathology as well as from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

I am very excited about our Pediatric Residency Program at Albany Medical Center and hope that you will be too.  Our mission is to prepare residents to become excellent pediatricians who are leaders and provide high quality patient care through a supportive environment.  We provide high quality education and high quality patient care through an environment rich with resources, support and opportunities.  We are dedicated to your development as a professional pediatrician in preparation for careers in general pediatrics as well as fellowship.
