The Department is responsible for teaching pathology and laboratory science to medical students, graduate students, and postgraduate physicians at Albany Medical Center and several affiliated hospitals.

Role of the Department
In addition to operating the clinical laboratories of Albany Medical Center Hospital, the Department performs reference laboratory testing for several regional facilities, including Stratton VA Medical Center, St. Clare's Hospital, Kingston Hospital, Benedictine Hospital and St. Elizabeth Hospital. It also serves several major physician group practices and several small regional commercial laboratories.
