Joshua Mali, M.D. Josh hails from West Virginia, where he was born in Charleston. He earned his undergraduate degree Summa cum Laude in Biology and completed his MD at West Virginia University in Morgantown. He did some of his clinical rotations in Charleston, but returned to Morgantown for his transitional internship. As a medical student, Josh did research on argon lasers and worked with J. Vernon Odom on a low vision project which he presented at ARVO. He also has a paper on punctal stenosis which was published in the May, 2010 issue of Eye and Contact Lens. Josh enjoys travel and is a big fan of all sports. |
Zachary Roth, M.D. Zach grew up in San Diego and spent his undergraduate years at Berkely. He came east to earn his MD at Temple University in Philadelphia. Already active on the research front, he worked as a medical student with Gary Brown on the cost-utility of Restasis. Zach has 9 publications to his credit, covering subjects from the cost-effectiveness of eye care to macular degeneration and the epidemiology of vision loss. He served his internship in internal medicine at AMC. When he is not working, Zach enjoys golf, running, music, and cinema. |

Amit Todani, M.D. Amit comes from Calcutta, where he earned his MD and served his residency in ophthalmology. Amit served a two-year fellowship with Claes Dohlman at Harvard that included 12 publications. He helped develop the Boston Keratoprosthesis and performed the first keratoprosthesis surgery in eastern India. His work on an intraocular pressure transducer won a “best paper” award at the European Association for Vision and Eye Research. He also developed software for computing IOL power following keratorefractive surgery. Amit completed his internship in internal medicine at AMC. He enjoys music and computers. He and his wife, Swati, have a 7-month old son. |

David Auringer, M.D. David Auringer grew up in western New York State, where he worked as an ophthalmic technician and surgical assistant. He did his undergraduate work at Siena, where he graduated magna cum laude. He completed medical school at Albany Medical College. As a medical student, David did research with John Simon, Gerry Barry, and Dale Meyer, publishing two papers and earning a “best of session” award at AAPOS. He was elected to AOA. |
Nadia Hesham, M.D. Nadia Hesham hails from the Capital District, where her father is a member of the faculty in nephrology at Albany Med. She performed the clarinet for the Albany Symphony Orchestra. Nadia did her undergraduate work at RPI, where she was on the Dean’s list all 8 semesters, earned two merit scholarships, and graduated magna cum laude. As a medical student at the Albany Medical College, she was elected to AOA in her junior year. Nadia did research with Rob Schultze, Dale Meyer, and John Simon. |

Nicole Lemanski, M.D. Nicole Lemanski grew up in Albany, where she won several national titles in figure skating, participating in the junior Olympics. Nicole’s mother, Mabel Cheng, is a member of the clinical faculty in ophthalmology at Albany Medical College. Nicole did her undergraduate work at Hamilton College, where she graduated cum laude and earned her BA with honors in art history. As a medical student at Albany Med, Nicole did peptide research and published several papers with Paul Beer and Michael Belin. |
