Our Block Schedule

The Q3  Block Switch

At AMC, our Med/Peds residents (in conjunction with the departments of IM & Peds) have a 13- 4 block rotation schedule and they switch between IM & Peds every 3 blocks. This allows for greater information retention and seamless exposure to both adults and children, to better reflect future practice. This also enhances both familiarity to attending's and fellow residents.

The first year is primarily inpatient based with broad exposure to both pediatric and medicine wards, intensive care units and our Med/Peds continuity clinic. As you progress through the rest of your residency, you will take on more elective/subspecialty rotations as well as more specialized experiences including advocacy rotations, international experience, and pediatric transport calls. These calls are during pediatric elective months and involve transferring children by ambulance and at times by helicopter from outside facilities to our Pediatric Intensive Care Units with the aid of a nurse practitioner and respiratory therapist.
