The department of Anesthesiology at Albany Medical Center has established a program for CA3 residents to go to developing countries. The mission of the department is to contribute to improving global health care through teaching of the local health care workers.
Countries served are Peru and Africa.
The placement of residents and fellows in the countries is done in collaboration with the Health Volunteers Overseas (HVO) and Global Humanitarian Outreach (GHO). CA3 residents interested in this opportunity will need to apply to the department of Anesthesiology indicating their interest in serving overseas. The trip is sponsored by the department of Anesthesiology. The resident would serve 3-4 weeks abroad and will get ABA credit for the work.
