A Message from the Associate Dean
A Commitment to Excellence
Dear Future Resident:
It is my sincere pleasure to introduce you to the Graduate Medical Education programs at Albany Medical Center. As residents and fellows play such significant roles in the Medical Center's three-pronged mission of quality patient care, biomedical research and medical education, we are profoundly proud to offer training programs that graduate physicians in over thirty ACGME-accredited programs.
Our commitment to medical education and to you, as a resident, means you will have opportunities to interact with almost 400 residents, 480 medical students, and over 350 full-time attendings and 600 other area physicians. You will have representation on the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff, the Graduate Medical Education Council, and the Chief Resident Council. You will be invited to evaluate your programs, the Medical Center, your faculty, your staff and your students on a regular basis. And you will be an integral part of the healthcare team that provides superior patient care to our diverse patient body.
Albany Medical Center boasts a new state-of-the-art and one of the nation's most advanced Emergency Care Centers that serves as a regional trauma center. Other major advances at the Medical Center include the reopening of the heart transplant program, the initiation of a new nurse midwives program, and the introduction of an innovative surgical procedure to correct nearsightedness. The Albany Medical College, which also trains medical students, masters and doctoral students, and nurse anesthetists, is supported by a number of prestigious grants from the National Institute of Health and other organizations.
We hope this site will answer any questions you may have about Albany Medical Center.
